How do I make reservations?
Coastal Dunes and Oceano Campground (office is located at Coastal Dunes for both campgrounds). Online reservations must be made two days prior to arrival date. One-day prior or same-day reservations can be made by phone, 805-781-4900 or at the campground. The phone line is available Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office is open Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday through Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If the office is open: staff will help you make a reservation. If the office is closed: temporarily camp in a vacant site, check-in at kiosk the next morning.  You may need to move in the morning, depending on availability.


El Chorro Campground Online reservations must be made two days prior to arrival date. One-day prior or same-day reservations must be made at the campground. If the kiosk is open: staff will help you make a reservation. If kiosk is closed: use Self-Check-In, located in front of the restrooms The phone line is available Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (805) 781-5930 ext. 4.


Lopez Lake Lopez Lake Online reservations must be made two days prior to arrival date. One-day prior or same-day reservations can be made by phone (805) 788-2381 or at the campground. The reservation phone line is available Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding holidays. The office is open 7-days a week 6:00 a.m. to sunset (Closing times vary depending on time of year). If the office is open: staff will help you make a reservation.  If the office is closed: temporarily camp in a vacant site, check-in at the office the next morning.  You may need to move in the morning, depending on availability.


Santa Margarita Lake Online reservations must be made two days prior to arrival date. One-day prior or same-day reservations must be made at the campground. The phone line is available Monday Through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The office is open 6:00 a.m. to 30 minuntes after sunset.  If the office is open: staff will help you make a reservation. If the office is closed: camp in a vacant site, check-in at kiosk the next morning.
  What fees will I be charged if I cancel or change a reservation?
Fees for cancelling your reservation:

(3) days prior to arrival date will be charged the $10 reservation fee.

(2) days prior to arrival date will be charged the reservation fee of $10 and a $25 cancellation fee.

(1) day prior or on arrival day will be charged the reservation fee and the first night.

There is a $10 fee to change any reservation.

  What is required to bring a bounce house into a County Park?
A County Parks permit, and fee are required to bring a bounce house into a County Park. Personal bounce houses are not permitted. Only County Park approved vendors may be used. For additional information or to obtain a permit, please contact us at 805-781-5930 option 4.  Are campfires allowed?
Temporary fire restrictions have been put in place at Lopez Lake and Santa Margarita Lake.


ALLOWANCES:  Portable lanterns, gas stoves, gas barbecues and propane fire rings (open fire) for non-cooking purposes are allowed in developed camp areas must have a shut-off valve with the ability to immediately extinguish any flame.  Traeger-type pellet enclosed wood chips and pellets for cooking are also allowed. 


NOT PERMITTED: Wood or charcoal fires

Reservation fees are non-refundable. Refunds can only be returned to the original payment method (excluding cash), if the request is made within a year of purchasing your campsite. No cash refunds.

I have a day-use reservation, how do I access a locked door/ gate?
An updated confirmation with a lock code will be emailed to you the week of your reservation.  Check under Receipt Notes for information.

If there is a problem with the electrical, try pressing the reset button on the outlet.  If that does not work call 805-781-5930, Option 7.
  How many days can I stay at a campground?
Camping is limited to fifteen consecutive calendar days, in any thirty consecutive day period April 1 through September 30. The thirty-day period commences on the first day of the camper's stay. In addition, camping is limited to thirty days in any sixty-day period October 1 through March 31. The sixty-day period commences on the first day of a camper's stay with a maximum of sixty days in any twelve-month period. [SLO Co. Ord. 11.04.090 (c)].
  Do your campgrounds have dump stations?
Our campgrounds do not have dump stations. If you are not staying in a full-hook-up site you will need to use an alternative station. Below are a couple of suggestions:


Santa Margarita Lake Campground: Use Santa Margarita KOA located at 4765 Santa Margarita Lake Rd, Santa Margarita, 805-438-5618. Fee: $20.00. Open 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily.
 
El Chorro Campground: Use Morro Bay State Park Campground located on State Park Road, Morro Bay, 805-772-2560. Fee: $10.00, Credit Cards Only. Open 24/7.


Lopez Lake, Coastal Dunes and Oceano Campgrounds: Use Oceano Dunes Sanitary Dump Station located at off Le Sage Dr., Pismo Beach 805-473-7220. Fee: $10.00, Credit Cards Only.  Open 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily.
 

Effective December 1, 2024, camping fees will be adjusted. The updated rates will apply to all camping reservations for January 1^st, 2025, and after.

Reservations are limited to six months in advance. The last day of your reservation should fall within the 6 months, in order to book online.

There are no Fire Restrictions in place, for any of our campgrounds, effective 11/23/2024.
